Gopal.V is currently a faculty member in finance and accounting area. He has done his Fellow Programme in Management with specialization in Finance and Control and Minor as MIS from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. He is a qualified Cost Accountant as well as a qualified company secretary. Though his basic education was in production engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, he has diversified into various areas such as finance, accounting, strategic management and corporate laws.

He started his career with Lucas TVS Ltd. As a trainee engineer in production engineering department. After his doctoral programme at IIM-C, he joined XIM Bhubaneswar. AT XIMB, he was instrumental in conceptualizing the first Investment Fair, way back in 1992. From there, he moved on to Goa Institute of Management. There he held positions of area chair, admissions chairman and part time programme chairperson. Apart from regular academic administrative roles, he was always on all committees regarding formulation of rules for admission, Post graduate programme, faculty manual as well as implementation of pay commission recommendations. At GIM he introduced a new elective Pricing Strategies, which was the first time such a course was introduced in India. He also pioneered the concept of separating Working Capital Management course for finance and non-finance specializations. He has been a visiting scholar to UFSIA, Antwerp, Belgium from GIM.

After serving at GIM for 12 years, he moved to Institute of Management Technology, Nagpur where he held the position of Dean. Apart from his role as Dean, he also looked after the admissions portfolio at IMT Nagpur. Professor Gopal is an expert in management of new private B-Schools. He has already been associated with 3 start ups and IIM Trichy will be the fourth start B-School he will be associated with. At IMT Nagpur, he conducts the CAPSTONE simulation game. He has been a visiting faculty at Chonnam National University, South Korea for Mergers and Acquisitions during summer 2010.

He is an avid public sector enthusiast. He was part of the initial team which formulated the policy of Memorandum of Understanding between Central PSEs and Government of India. This policy has led to formulation of performance management system for administrative ministries of Government of India as RFD policy. He is also a member of Ad-hoc Task Force created for advising the High Power Committee on draft RFDs.

He has participated in various national and international conferences and published in national and international journals. He has also conceptualized and conducted the first international conference on Management of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises at IMT Nagpur.

He has conducted training programmes for various clients which include Power Grid Corporation, NTPC, Orissa Forest Corporation, and NALCO. He has been a visiting faculty at National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur. He has conducted training programmes in all areas of finance and accounts, cost management, strategic management etc.
